EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Students hoping to leverage business skills for social good—or even to revolutionize capitalism itself—are a strong constituency in business schools today. Responding to their interests and needs is a matter of relevance for all MBA programs. It’s also a matter of excellence. Today’s CEOs may have considered engaging with social issues as optional while at school, but they are now called to step in and lead. This chapter provides key impact and leadership frameworks for the professional development of aspiring social innovators, shares examples of programs from the Stanford Graduate School of Business’s Center for Social Innovation, and describes the transformative role these students play in a business school community.
